This free luncheon is for anyone caring for a loved one who is living with Duchenne or Becker muscular dystrophy. A wide range of topics will be discussed including but not limited to: Medicaid, Medicaid waivers, Indiana Access Pass, school resources, approved and investigational treatments, vocational rehabilitation, camps and retreats, resources for home and vehicle modifications, respite care, personal attendant care, other home health services and more. The event will be held downtown Indianapolis and more details will be given up registration. Free, easy parking!

This free luncheon is for anyone who wants to learn more about resources for public, private, and homeschool models that can help individuals living with Duchenne and other complex medical conditions have the BEST educational experience possible. This event is for caregivers only and is part of our ongoing, monthly, educational, and social program series - Living Our BEST Lives With Duchenne!

Caregivers will have an opportunity to connect, strengthen relationships, and form new ones, as we talk about anything and everything we have learned while navigating the Duchenne journey. There are so many great resources available to help families live the best lives possible. We will talk about what resources are available and how to utilize them! Our founder, Laura McLinn, who is also a caregiver to her son living with Duchenne, will host the luncheon, and this particular event will not have any industry sponsors or health care professionals present.

This event, part of our “Living Our BEST Lives with Duchenne” monthly program series, will be held at the Firefighters Union Hall in downtown Indianapolis. This one comes without any of the stress of preparing food though! EVERYTHING is free and included. There will be an educational presentation about resources for families including some guest presenters from MDFF, Indiana WISH and possibly others! There will also be an opportunity to meet one-on-one with a Best Day Ever representative to help navigate specific resources or ask questions. This venue has one big room for the dinner and presentation with an adjacent room for activities including: Lego and blocks building, magnet building activities, ornament making, trivia contests, car tracks, other arts/crafts and games, face painting and more!

This year we are gathering at Back 9 Golf and Entertainment in Indianapolis for Father’s Day Weekend! This event is open to all the dads, grandpas, uncles, siblings, moms, grandmas, aunts, friends and individuals living with Duchenne! We will have a private room for those who just want to chat/connect, eat and drink, play games, and learn about helpful resources for the Duchenne journey! We will also have golf bays right outside that room for those who want to play and a connected outdoor patio with more tables, corn hole, ping pong, Connect Four and more! Families who have a loved one living with Duchenne are encouraged to bring everyone in the immediate and extended family and up to two extra friends who are a part of their support network! As always, everything is FREE and this is an accessible facility!

Join us virtually this month for Sunday morning coffee! This event is open to family and friends who are part of the journey of someone living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This particular event will not be open to any industry employees, sponsors or partners. Families will have an opportunity to connect with others, continue to form and strengthen friendships and relationships that are developing as a result of this program, and discuss a variety of topics important to families. There will be an educational presentation tailored to meet the interests and needs of the participants. Bring your Best Day Ever Mug filled with your favorite morning beverage.

This monthly program for families includes free dinner, games, resource sharing, an educational presentation and time to connect socially with other families living with Duchenne!

This month, every family who attends will also receive a free hydroponics growing system and a seed starter kit to grow vegetables and herbs inside with ease! We will talk about why a low-sodium diet matters for individuals living with Duchenne and everyone will leave with ideas for how to create low-sodium meals using some of the herbs grown with their new hydroponics growing system! Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, close friends… anyone living life with Duchenne with your family is welcome to participate!

NOTE - This event is being held at the Indianapolis Firefighters Union Hall in downtown Indianapolis. The Union Hall has a parking lot with free and easy parking right next to the building and the space we are using is accessible with plenty of room to move around!

This program will feature information about the following: two Indiana Medicaid Waivers for which individuals living with DMD typically qualify (life-changing resource!), respite care, home health services, options for parents or other family members and friends to become paid caregivers for their loved ones living with DMD, the Indiana Access Pass which gives entry into many museums and fine arts productions in Indiana for just $2, how to access any of the currently approved therapies for DMD, how to find and enroll in clinical trials for experimental treatments for DMD, how to access resources for home modifications and accessible vehicles, and information about other local resources for families!

As always, there will be time for participants to share information they have learned along their own DMD journey. This is one of my personal FAVORITE things about this program because those living with Duchenne have so much valuable information to share and we learn so much from each other!
